White Demin: Morning Becomes Electric
Music
This mix represents a period when I was heavily into White Denim. It features three live performances from the band on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, recorded between 2011 and 2016. During this period, White Denim released D, Corsicana Lemonade, and Stiff, with each performance showcasing and promoting the release of these albums. I caught the band live at least 3 or 4 times during this stretch. They were on fire each and every time.
White Denim has undergone significant lineup changes since forming as a three-piece in 2005. However, founding members James Petralli and Steve Terebecki remain, having just released their 12th studio album, 12, in December. The performances from October 27, 2011, and October 29, 2013, feature Petralli and Terebecki alongside original drummer Josh Block and guitarist Austin Jenkins. Unfortunately, Block and Jenkins departed after Corsicana Lemonade to collaborate with Leon Bridges on his debut album. They were later replaced by Jonathan Horne and Jeff Olson, who joined the band and performed on the April 1, 2016 show, which primarily highlights material from Stiff.
